Facebook
Have you thought about using Facebook groups in class? Here's one way of doing it. I'd recommend having a Professional FB account, ie: not you're own, and keep the group private.

Twitter
I'm still not 100% sold on the idea of Twitter in the classroom, but it IS a great professional tool for us teachers. If you do want to use it in the classroom, again set up a professional account, not your personal one.

Blogs


Blogs are brilliant tools to encourage reflection, collaboration and deeper thinking. There are heaps of schools now using blogs in the classroom, and heaps of teachers on Twitter keen to share, and form new relationships for their classes.

Edublogs is education focused. while the two below are really popular blogging platforms in all areas of interest.
